Saving money on London Fares: Not so great since Jan 2011 when they held the 13 offpeak travelcard.
There are many ways to save on return fares to London (fares as of 10/01/11):
One day travel card: 19 peak, 13 offpeak, 10 weekend.
Travel 11.30 offpeak - buy a Hadley Wood return for 3.30, and all zones travelcard (ask for a Hadley Wood travelcard) for 8. Downside is you have to get trains that stop at Hadley Wood. Alternative PB all zones offpeak travelcard 13. Please note that the ticket barrier eats daily travelcards. If you want to continue to use it - and it is valid on some local buses, ask to be let out of the manual gate. If the gateperson wont let you, argue then email webmaster and complain to FCC.
Go to the theatre for 10.80 rtn Finsbury Park offpeak return 7, then 1.90 (2.50 before 7pm) Oyster fare each way on Picadilly Line.
All Zones travel in London for 8: Buy an all zones travel card in newsagent for 8, then take 313 to Enfield Chase, 84 to New or High Barnet, or 298 to Cockfosters.
Click for oyster fares on London Underground.

season tickets:

Season ticket PB to Oakleigh Park, 820, plus Z1-4 annual travelcard, 1576 = 2396!, but please note you are required to take trains that stop at Oakleigh Park
Please note that you do have to use a train that stops at the border of your ticket combinations when using 2 season tickets. See the National Rail Conditions of Carriage for details
