The Station is open later!!
Following the campaign (see below) to keep the station ticket hall route open
later into the evening, WAGN have agreed, and it is usually open
until 11pm. It is a bit irregular, but is better than nothing,
and so far there appears to be no problems.
Broadway/Mutton Lane Junction Improvements

Have Your Say On Our Station
The Potters Bar edition of the Welwyn Hatfield Times is seeking
your views on our railway station. In particular how important you feel
it is to keep the station booking office open later in the evening.
Does the late night feel of the station put you off travelling by train at night?
Answer: "Would you like to see the station open later at night - yes/no?",
and "What are your perceptions of the station and forecourt area?" in an
email to wil.longbottom@whtimes.co.uk.
or drop the linked form into
the station newsagents or cab office (31/3/05)
A local Group hope that if there is a big enough response, Wagn may be receptive
to doing something.
Save £372 on your annual Travelcard
Do you only use your annual Travelcard to get to zones 1 and 2? If so you can save
£372 by buying an annual season to Finsbury Park (£932) plus an annual zones 1 and 2 card (856).
Thats £1788, saving £372 on the all zones PB Travelcard of £2160.
Because you still have a Travelcard, albeit zones 1 and 2,
you can still use it on buses in all zones including on the 313, 84 (as far as Cranborne) and 298 in PB.
For more ideas and details click here
Save on one day off peak Travelcard
Horrified by that increase of the one day off peak Travelcard
from £7.70 to £9.30? Well don't pay it. Buy an all zones travelcard for £6 from the local Newsagent,
eg "Off Licence" in the Broadway, then buy a Hadley Wood return at the station for £2.20.
Saving £1.10 and supporting local shops. This may be against some obsure rule,
but Webmaster has twice had his ticket checked on (fast) trains, without comment.
If you want to save even more money, use that £6 Travelcard to take the 298 to Cockfosters, or 313 to
Enfield Chase and save the additional £2.20.

Broadway parking - easier or what?
The work by our Police in ticketing those overstaying
the one hour limit has certainly made a difference.
There now seems to be usually a few spaces to park while nipping
into one of the shops. And that must be the objective.
Hopefully the Police will now tackle Darkes Lane, where spaces are
few and far between, and parking abuse is common (25/2/04)

8 Parking Tickets Issued in The Broadway.
The Police showed their commitment to tackle illegal parking when they ticketed 8
cars this morning for overstaying 1 hour. The Broadway seems to be a particular
problem for illegal parking with typically 50% of the 28 spaces overstaying the 1 hour.
It is believed most are persistent offenders, who by their actions are preventing
shoppers and other short stayers using the space as intended. The rest of Darkes
Lane has a 10% abuse level.
Earlier this week Hertsmere Borough Councillors were debating the decriminalisation
of parking which would bring illegal parking under Borough control. The process, which will involve
opinion surveys, will take at least a year. (5/2/04)
Update on this story. The Police ticketed this same stretch the following morning.
Don't know how many. But by the afternoon, there was still a 25% illegal
parking level.(6/2/04)

£9M Olympic Equestrian Centre for Vet College?
Local readers of The Times or The Guardian may have been excited or alarmed on reading
that the 2012 London Olympic bid includes plans for a £9M Olympic Equestrian Centre at the Royal Vet College.
But it appears this was all journalistic licence and guesswork. The Royal Vet College tells us that
they have been no discussions on this subject in recently. The Daily Telegraph apparently put the Olympic
Equestrian Centre at another location completely.
