Tyler, Gladys
Gladys Tyler died on 21st August 2008 whilst visiting her sister
Margaret at Shefford. She was one of 10 children, the daughter of Florence Rose and James Tyler,
formerly of 305 Mutton Lane, Potters Bar, sister of Dolly, Reginald, Frank, Cyril, Ivy, Joan,
Leslie and Margaret, and Billy who died aged 7 in a road accident.
She served in the ATS alongside her sister Ivy during the 2nd World War.
Later she started her career in office work at
Dominion Insurance in Cockfosters. Later with her sister Joan, she worked in Pay & Take Store
in Darkes Lane, later crossing the road to Cheese Plus at Readers. Along the way she made many friends. Living
with her parents and brother Reg, she moved to 34 Aberdale Gardens, then finally South Mimms.
Gladys was one of life's carers, always on hand to babysit, care and help family,
neighbours and friends. She was a wonderful cook and the baker of delicious cakes.
She is survived by her sister, also sister-in-law Ita, neices, nephews
and their families, all of whom will miss her very much.
Her funeral took place
at Harewood Park on Friday 5th September 2008.
