Potters Bar Society Public Meeting Resolution on CAB Office Closure

The public meeting, held 16th December, on the Future of Potters Bar CAB passed the following resolution:

This meeting objects strongly to the proposed closure of Potters Bar CAB, which has provided a much valued service to the community for over 4 years. No adequate explanation of the reasons for closure have been given to the volunteers or staff, and none to the general public; and it is inexcusable that an attempt should be made to rush the proposals through over the Christmas period, with a deadline for comments of 4th January 2005, when the proposals would not come into effect until April.

The meeting therefore -

1) Calls upon the Trustees to postpone a final decision for a year; and also

2) Calls upon Hertsmere Councillors
(a) To urge such postponement, and
(b) If the Trustees wish to go ahead as proposed, to consider reducing the Council's funding of the CAB proportionately.
